3G to be auctioned in 4 stages

The ever late 3G spectrum has once again missed the deadline. As was reported in the previous post, the 3G spectrum auctioning won't start on December 7. According to the latest reports the process is slated to start on 14th of January.
The DOT has announced that the auctioning will be done in 4 stages. These will be:
1. Invitation stage
2. Pre-Qualification stage
3. Auction
4. Grant of spectrum
A mock auction is also scheduled to be held on 11th and 12th of January.
Let's see if the government is able to keep its promise this time or not.

3G Auctions may Miss December Deadline

So folks we have it here first. Bad news for those waiting eagerly to get their hands on 3G technology.
The much awaited 3G auctioning is very likely to miss the December 2009 deadline. The process which has faced a number of date cancellations is yet again set to carry on the trend.
Just when everything seemed to be streamlining, inaction on part of the government has made the speculations do rounds that auctions may not take place on the 7th of December as was decided earlier by the Department of Telecommunications.
The DOT had planned to issue an information memorandum on the 27th of September but to date there is no sign of it. The IM is a critical document revealing details of the auction process that potential investors require in order to begin their investment planning
The process which was scheduled to start in December 2008 has already been delayed by almost a year and is very likely to be delayed further unless and until the government puts it on fast track.
